반 고흐의 화가로서의 삶을 시간순으로 나열하여 정리했습니다. 반 고흐는 일생동안 아주 많은 양의 편지를 주고받았는데, 그 덕분에 다른 화가들과 비교해 인생에 대해 자세하게 알려져있습니다. 또한 아주 많은 작품을 그렸는데, 대개 여러 장소에 파편화되어 보관되고 있고, 자료가 잘 모아져있는 경우도 반 고흐의 삶을 중심으로 다루기보다는 작품을 중심으로 만들어두었기 때문에 이런 작품들을 반 고흐의 삶과 시간을 기준으로 모으는 것이 의미가 있다고 생각했습니다. 반 고흐라는 사람의 인생을 다루는 것이기 때문에 1차적으로 시간을 기준으로 나누고, 2차적으로 그림과 편지로 나누어 계층을 구성했습니다. 또한 반 고흐가 만든 작품이나 편지 외에, 반 고흐라는 인물에 대해 다룬 자료의 경우 대부분 특정 시기가 아닌 반 고흐의 인생 전반을 다루기 때문에 따로 컬렉션을 만들어 배치했습니다. 계층을 나눈 1차적 기준인 시간의 경우, 반 고흐가 머물렀던 지역별로 시기를 구분했는데, 이것은 그가 머물던 지역에 따라 그의 화풍이 변했기 때문입니다.
