Abstract

1950년 6월 북한의 전격적 남침으로 개전된 이래, 낙동강 전선에서 수세에 몰렸던 한국전쟁의 전세는 1950년 9월 15일 인천상륙작전의 성공을 통해 일거에 반전을 이루었다. 인천상륙작전의 성공으로 38선 돌파를 통해 북한으로의 진격이 이루어지면서, 이후 한국전쟁의 전략적 변화는 물론 미·소 간 세계전략의 차원에서도 상당한 변화를 가져오게 되었다. 그간 인천상륙작전에 대한 학계의 연구는 인천상륙작전의 준비과정, 전개과정, 영향, 전사적 의미 등 인천상륙작전의 공식적 진행과정에 초점을 맞추어왔다. 그러나 최근 들어 인천상륙작전의 이면사를 연구하려는 움직임이 본격화되고 있다. 특히 인천상륙작전의 초기 작전 추진과정에서 참전자들의 수기 및 회고를 중심으로 이루어진 이러한 연구 성과들은 인천상륙작전의 공식 전사와는 다른 시각을 제공해줌으로써 전쟁사 연구를 풍부하게 해주었으며, 한국인들의 능동적 참여를 보여줌으로써 ‘미군’ 중심의 인천상륙작전과는 또 다른 내용을 보여주었다. 이 글에서 살펴본 팔미도 정보 작전은 9월 15일 인천상륙작전이 개시되기 전, 260척에 이르는 유엔군 병력이 인천 앞바다의 좁은 ‘비어수로’를 안전하게 통과하게 함으로써 인천상륙작전의 성공에 기여한 중요한 작전이었지만, 그간 학계에서는 자료의 부족과 한계로 인해 큰 주목을 끌지 못했다. 이 글에서는 팔미도 정보 작전에 참여했던 인사들의 회고록 및 증언을 교차 분석하여, 팔미도 정보 작전의 의미를 재검토해보았다. 이를 통해 무엇보다 팔미도 정보 작전에는 한국인 자원자들의 희생과 클라크 첩보대의 과감한 첩보작전이 크게 기여했음을 밝혀냈다. 인천상륙작전은 약 5만 3,900명의 상륙병력 가운데 피해자가 불과 2,400명에 불과할 정도로 세계전사에서도 유례없는 대성공을 거둔 작전이다. 만약 이름 모를 한국인 청년단의 활약과 G?2, Z?Unit 및 KLO 부대의 협력작전이 가미된 팔미도 정보 작전이 없었다면 상당한 피해가 불가피했을 것이다. This abundance studies have treated military history from the other side of the Korean people by showing a active participation of the Incheon landing, and another showed the contents than the official American military history. In this paper, we have sought to the September 15 Palmido intelligence operations initiated before the Incheon landing, 260 UN troops reach the coast of Incheon, a small ‘flying fish channel’ to pass safely through an important contribution to the success of the operations. But, In this academia, It failed to attract much attention that the lack of data was limitations. In this study, We have reconsidered that the intelligence operations Palmido’ meaning with the memoirs of personnel who were involved in operations. Palmido intelligence operations revealed that a significant contribution of all the ‘loyal’ Korean volunteers’ sacrifice and Clark’s agency. This operations lead to the triumph of Incheon landing that a victim of nothing more than just 2,400 people in the landing troops mobilized about 53,900 people. It was so unprecedented in world military history has been able to reap the jackpot. The hidden history of the Incheon landing have got the story of solidarity Korean Intelligence agency and G?2, Z?Unit of Far East Command and co?operation of the KLO intelligence agency operations Palmido. If Palmido operation was not for, significant damage would had been inevitable.
