‘인천상륙작전’의 매체별 재현 양상으로 본 인천의 장소성 연구

Abstract

이 연구에서는 2013-2016년 사이에 각각 다른 매체를 통해 발표된 네 가지 텍스트를 통해 인천의 장소설을 분석하고자 하였다. 대상 텍스트는 웹툰 <인천상륙작전>(2013), 만화 단행본 『인천상륙작전』(2013-2014), 그리고 영화 <인천상륙작전>(이재한, 2016), 소설 『인천상륙작전』(2016)이다. 소설과 영화에서는 인천상륙작전을 대한민국의 시금석이 되는 사건이자 맥아더로 상징되는 미국에 의한 시혜라고 본다. 동시에 캘로 부대원인 주인공 장학수의 활약과 희생을 통해 대한민국의 건국에 남한 사람들의 활약이 있었다는 것도 강조하면서 인천을 중층적인 공간으로 드러낸다. 이러한 중층적 공간이 의미하는 것은 인천상륙작전이 가지는 역사적 승리가 미국의 시혜임을 인정하는 것임과 함께 거기에는 한국인의 결정적인 기여가 있었다는 것을 드러내고자 하는 것이다. 그리고 이 두 텍스트에서는 인천상륙작전에서의 승리에 대한 한국인의 기여는 역사적 정신적 정통성에 바탕을 두었다는 것을 보여주고 있다. 한편 웹툰과 만화 단행본에서는 해방 이후부터 인천상륙작전까지의 역사의 흐름과 함께, 그 역사의 풍랑에 비극을 겪는 철구네 가족 이야기를 다루는 이중적 구조를 택한다. (특히 단행본에서는 역사서와 같은 성격이 더욱 강조된다.) 웹툰과 만화 단행본에서는 인천을 고향으로 하는 철구 가족이 고향에서 안주하지 못할 뿐 아니라, 고향인 인천에서 인천상륙작전 당시의 포격으로 죽는 등 역사의 격랑에 휘말려 철구만 제외하고 모두 죽는 비극을 보여준다. 이는 인천상륙작전 중에 많은 민간인이 죽고 고통을 당한 땅으로서의 인천을 제시하여 인천상륙작전가 연관된 인천의 장소성에 대해 새로운 인식을 요구하는 것이라고 하겠다. 이 두 텍스트는 인천상륙작전을 단지 승리의 기억으로 볼 것이 아니라, 인천상륙작전이 인천에 살고 있던 사람들 나아가 다수의 보통 사람들에게 어떤 고통을 가져다주었는지에 관심을 기울이려고 하고 있다. 위의 네 텍스트는 현재 우리가 인천상륙작전과 인천을 바라보려고 하는 역사적 시각을 드러내고 있다. 이들이 대체로 대중적으로 성공한 텍스트라는 것이 이를 반증한다. 여기에서 우리는 역사의 인식을 통해 자신의 정체성을 구성하려는 문화 수용자의 모습을 이해할 수 있다. This study attempted to analyze Incheon"s placeness through four texts published in different media between 2013 and 2016. The target texts are the webtoon Operation Chromite (2013), the cartoon book Operation Chromite (2013-2014), the movie Operation Chromite (Jae-han, Lee, 2016), novel Operation Chromite (2016). In this novel and this movie, the Operation Chromite is viewed as an event that becomes the touchstone of the Republic of Korea and a favor from the United States symbolized by MacArthur. At the same time, it reveals Incheon as a multi-layered space, emphasizing that the South Korean people were active in the founding of the Republic of Korea through the main character, Jang Hak-soo. On the other hand, in this webtoon and this comic book, a dual structure is used to deal with the history and story of the Cheol-gu"s family who suffers tragedy from the storm of history along with the time from liberation to the Operation Chromite. In this webtoon and this comic book show the tragedy that the Cheol-gu"s family, whose hometown is Incheon, cannot settle down in their hometown. But also dies from the shelling of the Cheol-gu in their hometown, Incheon. And dies from storm of history except for Cheol-gu, the only child of the family. This suggests Incheon as a land where many civilians died and suffered during the Operation Chromite. And demands a new awareness of the placeness of Incheon that is related to the Operation Chromite.
